Today at work, I finally got to help some of the tests cooks in the kitchen. Because I am under 18, I am not allowed to do anything involving fire or knives. So instead I helped two different cooks by measuring out different ingredients for whatever recipe they were working on at that time. Today I also made phone calls to different companies who create certain products that Cook's Illustrated will possibily use in the magazine or show for the ladies working around me. At some points of the day today it was awkward because they did not expect me to do a good job on the projects they gave me in such a sort period of time. I thought the things that they gave me to do were actually really simple. Some of it was finding research for different members of the team, so when it comes time to test the recipes, they have multiple recipes to choose from and to make sure that they work correctly. Then at the end of the day I got to go shadow the person who was in charge of all of the videos that are made for the website and the magazines. Tomorrow I have a lot of recipe research to do for many different people in the office.
